Al een lange tijd ben ik op zoek geweest naar de juiste personage voor iemand die net zoals de Kerstman is. Eigenlijk zou ik dit verhaal rond Kerst uitbrengen, maar ik heb besloten het toch nu te doen.

Het verhaal wordt verteld door een spiret, die met zijn of haar kind praat. Zoals de intro impliceert krijgen jonge spirets tot hun tiende levensjaar, of cyclus, een gift van Phande, in de vorm van speelgoed. Maar net zoals in het echte leven worden deze giften al lang niet meer door Phande gegeven, maar door hun voogden.

For a long time I have been looking for the right person for someone who's like Santa Clause. I actually should tell this story around Christmas, but I decided to tell it now.

The story is being told by a spiret, who speaks to his or her child. Like the intro implicates young spirets get a gift from Phande until the age of ten, when they reach their tenth cycle, in the form of toys. But just like in real life these gifts haven't been given by Phande for a long time, but by their guardians.

Oorspronkelijk onderdeel van De Legende van Ertar, dit verhaal is losjes gebaseerd op degene die ik ooit heb opgeschreven. Door een compete systeemreset ben ik het origineel kwijt geraakt, maar het verhaal is altijd wel hetzelfde gebleven sinds het originele concept.

Het verhaal wordt verteld vanaf het oogpunt van een inwoner in Ertar, die het verhaal vertelt aan een kind. Het moet eigenlijk een soort van sprookje of mythe zijn welke al dan niet echt is gebeurd.

Er worden hier overigens enkele termen gebruikt die al redelijk worden uitgelegd in het boek, dus daarom zal ik ook een keer een soort van introductie-blog maken over de wereld van Ertar zelf. Ook wordt er even naar het verhaal gerefereerd in het boek, om precies te zijn in het vijfde hoofdstuk, "Nacht", maar voorlopig blijft het volledige verhaal alleen online bestaan.

Originally part of The Legend of Ertar, this story is loosely based on something I once have written. Because of a complete system wipe I've lost the original, but the story has always been the same as in the original concept.

The story is told from the perception of an inhabitant of Ertar, who tells the story to a child. It's supposed to be some sort of fairy tale or myth which may or may not have actually happened.

There are certain words and phrases used that are explained in the novel, so I may one day make some sort of introductional blog about the world of Ertar itself. There will also be some references to the story in the novel, specifically the fifth chapter, "Night" ("Nacht"), but for now the story's only available online.
